Dr. Andrew Jacono’s Academic Work in Facial Plastic Surgery
Operating room skill is one measure of a surgeon. Another is how much that surgeon adds to the field’s shared knowledge. Dr. Andrew Jacono has built a deep record on both fronts, according to a profile published in January 2026.
Teaching Roles
He serves as Associate Clinical Professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he earned his medical degree in 1996. At North Shore University Hospital, he is Section Head of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He also holds the post of Fellowship Director for the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, guiding surgeons through advanced training.
Research and Publications
His written output is extensive. He has authored more than 70 peer-reviewed articles appearing in journals such as Aesthetic Surgery Journal and JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery. He has delivered presentations at over 100 international conferences and published several books. One of them, a 2021 medical textbook, covers extended deep-plane facelifting.
That textbook connects to his best-known contribution. Dr. Andrew Jacono created the Minimal Access Deep-Plane Extended (MADE) facelift in the early 2000s. Conventional facelifts often rely on pulling the skin tighter. His method instead elevates skin, muscle, and fat as a combined unit, with results that can endure 12 to 15 years.
Peers have taken note. Plastic surgeon Dr. Paul Nassif selected him to perform his own deep-plane facelift. Newsweek ranked him the third-best facelift surgeon in America for 2025, and Harper’s Bazaar counted him among the 24 best plastic surgeons nationwide.
His own training includes an Otolaryngology residency at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, where he was administrative chief resident, plus an accredited fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dual board certification rounds out those credentials.
Research and teaching extend his influence well past the patients he sees in Manhattan and Great Neck. For Dr. Andrew Jacono, each fellow trained and each paper published carries his methods into operating rooms he will never enter. Refer to this article to learn more.
